AMS Annual Meeting
I will be headed down to New Orleans tomorrow, to attend part of the American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting. I’ve been to some conferences, but never the full annual meeting…i hear it’s something to see. Vendors of weather equipment, books, etc. will be there, and there will also be many conferences going on at the same time. I am hoping to see Max Mayfield, former directior of the National Hurricane Center, speak.
I will be speaking in an area way out of my normal field of research, in the Presidential History Symposium, on a man named Edward S. Holden, who in 1883 already had some neat ideas on tornado warnings, long before they became more standard practice after 1938. Check out my powerpoint, and have the sound on your computer on! It runs best straight in your browser.
Feedback is welcome.
