Thanks to Steve Jones of Huntsville for this image… he writes…

“James,
I have attached the seismogram from my instrument here in Huntsville, from the M2.1 event this morning at about 7:18 in Northwest Alabama. I attempted to post it as promised on the alabamawx blog, but was unsuccessful in that endeavor.

Please post this for me, if you think that some of the blog readers in this area would be interested in such things.

The P (primary) and S (secondary) waves, with a frequency somewhat higher than that of the earth’s microseismic “background noise,” show up quite clearly in the seismogram, arriving in Huntsville at approximately +26 seconds and +46 seconds, respectively, following the time of the event with a focus some 161 km from Huntsville. Of course, the wave amplitudes in this event record represent only a very small fraction of a millimeter total ground movement here in Huntsville.”
