At The Midnight Hour

Cold air was pouring into Alabama late tonight. While it was still very windy, the winds were slowly subsiding.

Literally hundreds of trees have been uprooted tonight across numerous counties and without thunderstorms being involved. It is probably going to be as much damage as a fairly significant severe thunderstorm event.

A few late reports:

34 degrees in Muscle Shoals, wind NW gusts 35, wind chill 23
50 in Gadsden with gusts to 36
46 clear in Tuscaloosa with gusts to 29
46 at Birmingham Airport with gusts to 41
52 mph gusts at Albertville Airport in NE Alabama at 1040 pm

Trees down on two houses inside the city limits of Alexander City
At Chelsea, in Shelby County, a car ran into a fallen tree on highway 39 with possible injuries
