A Very, Very Early Update–3:30 am

It is a new day.

And, a new month.

Very early on this Friday, here is a quick look.

At 3:30 am, almost all of the rain was gone from Alabama–just a few left-over showers over the SE corner and some diminishing rain around Fort Payne in the NE corner.

The rain has shifted eastward and it is raining extensively across Georgia and the Carolinas. (They need it too) Colder air was spilling in behind th big rain event and it was in the 40s across most of Alabama with a brisk west wind.

This has been an exceptionally good rain happening for Alabama. Later this morning, we will post a good list of the amounts and we will also check in on our neighbors to the east, including thirsty Atlanta.

A couple of amounts in front of me now:

1.04 inches in Helena (from Brian Peters)
1.12 at Riverchase (ABC 33/40)
