An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

QUIET AFTERNOON: No rain on radar, a partly to mostly sunny, and temperatures generally in the mid to upper 80s across Alabama. Don’t look for much change tomorrow; the high should be in the 87-90 degree range with a good supply of sunshine through scattered clouds after a pleasant morning. A shower might show up late Wednesday near the Tennessee border, but most Alabama communities should be dry.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: We will mention a chance of showers and thunderstorms on both days as a cold front eases into the state and stalls out somewhere over South Alabama. The rain won’t be too heavy, and not especially widespread, but just keep in mind some rain is possible at times on both days. The weather turns noticeably cooler Friday with a high in the 78-81 degree range as cooler continental air slips in from the north.

OUR WEEKEND: The front will slowly dissipate over the weekend, but I think there could be just enough moisture still around for isolated showers. Still, most of the weekend should be rain-free with a high around the 80 degree mark Saturday and Sunday, along with a mix of sun and clouds.

TROPICS: Tropical Storm Maria looks pretty disorganized this afternoon… see the Weather Xtreme video for the graphics and details. The latest NHC advisory keeps Maria as a tropical storm over the next five days as it recurves over the open Atlantic well east of the U.S. The rest of the Atlantic basin for now is quiet.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will record this week’s episode tonight at 8:30 p.m. CDT… you can listen live via uStream here.

Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow….
