…SEE JB POST BELOW ON POSSIBLE SEVERE WEATHER SE OF BHM THIS AFTERNOON…

The cold front moving through Alabama is very evident in temperatures, on radar, and on satellite this afternoon.  First of all, check out temperatures.

It’s in the lower 60s behind the front in NW Alabama, and near 80 in Birmingham.  When the front comes through, temperatures will drop quickly, and it will cooler with the wind blowing.  The temperature dropped 9 degrees in a little over an hour at Belgreen, AL (south of Florence) when the front came through this morning.

Showers and maybe a few thunderstorms are starting to develop along the front also.  The air is likely too stable for anything severe in TCL or BHM, but farther east and south, where the sun shined longer, storms could get intense later this afternoon.

And, the large frontal system, with a big low over the western Great Lakes, looks nice on visible satellite this afternoon.
