An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

THIS AFTERNOON: While the sun has peaked out in a few spots, I think we can forget about clearing as the clouds have been very stubborn to leave. And, with high clouds already moving from the next trough, it will most likely be Friday before we see a really decent amount of sunshine.

TO THE WEST: Showers and storms are rather widespread over the eastern half of Arkansas, but there are no severe weather warnings at this point. These storms will be moving into the Mississippi Delta region within the next few hours. Some of the showers could reach Northwest Alabama later tonight.

TOMORROW: The surface cold front will pass through our state tomorrow with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Rain amounts should be under 1/2 inch for most places, and all of the showers should be out of the state by 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. A strong storm is not totally out of the question tomorrow afternoon, but severe weather is not expected.

FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY: Fantastic fall weather is the story for Friday and the weekend, with sunny pleasant days and fair cool nights. Highs will be in the 70s Friday and Saturday, with low 80s Sunday. Early morning lows in should be in the 47-52 degree range over the weekend. The humidity will be low.

NEXT WEEK: We stay dry Monday, but a cold front will bring some risk of showers and storms Tuesday. We note the 12Z GFS is drier on Tuesday, and October fronts often pass through without really heavy rain. Then, the coolest air so far this season is due in here Wednesday and Thursday. The 12Z GFS is not quite as cold, but we will still have to be on the lookout for frost by early Thursday morning. See the Weather Xtreme video for full details.

TROPICS: All remains quiet across the vast Atlantic basin, and tropical storm formation is not expected through Friday.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
