Cold Front Arrives Tonight

**Like yesterday, I will post the student weather briefing here at the National Weather Association annual meeting, which goes on through Thursday at the Wynfrey in Hoover. The video will be up by mid-morning; we will get back to our regular Weather Xtreme video production schedule Friday**

ONE MORE WARM DAY: Temperatures will rise into the 80s for one more day across Alabama. Clouds will slowly increase, and a shower might break out this afternoon in spots, mainly over the western counties. But, clearly the best chance of showers and storms will come tonight as the front moves through.

Severe weather is not expected, although a strong storm is certainly not out of the question. Looks like the best chance of showers and storms will come from about 4:00 p.m. today through 4:00 a.m. tomorrow. Rain amounts should be generally one-half inch or less.

COOL CHANGE: As the rain moves out during the pre-dawn hours tomorrow, the coolest air so far this season will blow in here tomorrow on brisk northwest winds. Both the GFS and the NAM are printing highs only in the mid to upper 50s, and the wind and lingering clouds will make it feel cooler. I am not very optimistic we see much sunshine tomorrow, as we all know how slow the clearing process can be in situations like this.

FROSTY MORNINGS: Temperatures head down into the mid to upper 30s by Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. Looks like the best chance of frost will come early Friday when the wind will be near calm. Also some of the colder valleys across North Alabama will be very close to freezing. Cold weather fans will love it. The sky will be crystal clear, with maximum sunshine Thursday and Friday; highs will be only in the 60s.

WEEKEND PEEK: Doesn’t get much better. Sunny days, clear chilly nights, low humidity. Look for mid 60s Saturday, and a high around 70 Sunday. Perfect weekend for football, the races at Talladega, or anything else you want to do outside.

TROPICS: The disturbance over the southern Gulf will not become a tropical storm. Convection is well to the northeast of the surface low, and strong winds aloft will keep this from becoming an organized system. But, it will still produce some heavy rain over South Florida today as it moves northeast.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. Scroll down for the show notes on the episode we recorded last night with Bill “Bubba” Bussey here at the National Weather Association annual meeting. Tons of fun.
