Sunless Sunday, Sudden Showers

| November 20, 2011 @ 12:08 pm | Reply

Things have been pretty socked in with fog and low clouds on this Sunday across Alabama.  Southeastern areas may see a few breaks in the clouds as we go through the afternoon.

It was already quite mild across the area, with the mercury starting off in the upper 50s to lower 60s at daybreak and climbing slowly through the 60s. Temperatures will not reach 70F this afternoon in most locations.  The only exception will be areas where sunshine breaks out a little more.

Showers developed over eastern Mississippi and moved into Northwest Alabama at late morning.  These showers were moderate to heavy at times in a band that was marching eastward at about 30 mph.  Areas eastward to a line from Huntsville to Birmingham will experience them between now and 3 p.m.  They could persist into eastern sections after that.
