No Rain Through Monday

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

There are really some remarkable pictures posted here on the blog in recent days… I encourage you to take some time and look at them; that set of 145 shots from Union University (the post right below this one) is really amazing. How in the world could this happen to that small college and all of the students survive? I think some of you know the answer.

LOOKING AHEAD Not much change in our weather through Monday… mostly sunny pleasant days and clear chilly nights. We rise into the low to mid 60s, then Sunday should be a little cooler.

OUR NEXT RAIN: We will mention a good chance of showers and thunderstorms late Tuesday night and Wednesday. The latest run of the GFS (12Z) shows a relatively strong upper short wave moving through Alabama, but the surface low is the Columbus, GA by 12:00 noon Wednesday; that is too far south for any real threat of severe weather for North Alabama. But, lets take another look Monday and we can fine tune the forecast. Looks like a system where rain amounts to one inch are very possible across all of Alabama.

LONG RANGE: Scroll down for J.B.’s theory about the brutally cold air now over Alaska and the Yukon. The GFS continues to hint at some kind of Arctic shot here in the February 20-22 time frame. Time will tell…

STORM ALERT 2008 TUESDAY NIGHT: Don’t forget, our show next week will be on Tuesday night at the Northport Civic Center… the doors open at 5:00, the show begins at 7:00. Bring the whole family!

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

WEATHER PARTY: Get all the latest weather news over on our sister site, WeatherParty.com. Be sure and register while you are there; you can submit stories and vote on them to determine what is published on the front page. This is a great way to find the latest weather-related news stories.

I will have my next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. Monday… Brian Peters is back in town and will have the video updates on the blog tomorrow and Sunday. Have a wonderful weekend!
