A Change In Thinking…

People who live in north Alabama’s Lawrence County spent the weekend cleaning up in the wake of last week’s killer tornado … and it appears that many folks are experiencing a change in thinking about severe weather. Rex Free is an amateur radio operator (KN4CI) who has been active in the North Alabama Skywarn Network and who assists the Lawrence Co. Emergency Management Agency. The tornado has brought a new reality to people in the area, Free says.

As for the clean-up, Free says that won’t end quickly. He shot these pictures over the weekend in some of the hardest hit areas, including along Co. Rd. 186 where Greg and Becky Coleman and their son Garrick, were killed. Four people died in Lawrence Co., including 86-year-old Faye Nell McCullough, who lived about five miles from the Colemans. Linda Tinker, 60, was killed in Jackson Co. You can click on the pictures individually for additional information about what you’re seeing:
