Some Heavy Showers/Thunder This Morning

| January 8, 2012 @ 9:47 am

Showers and some embedded thunder continue across parts of Northwest and Central Alabama this morning.

Heavy rain covers eastern Tuscaloosa, southern Jefferson and northern Shelby Counties.  Lighter rain is common over St. Clair, Blount, Talladega, Clay and Randolph Counties.  A shower was over western Calhoun County near Ohatchee.

Other heavy showers were over Marion, Winston and northern Walker Counties in Northwest Alabama.

Everything is pushing east northeastward.

More showers and storms are expected at just about any point over the next 48 hours, with rainfall being a little more widespread and heavier during the afternoons and evenings with peak heating.

Temperatures this afternoon will be a little cooler than yesterday, thanks to the clouds and showers, with highs topping out in the middle 60s for the most part.  Anyone lucky enough to see the sun may touch 70F.
