Central Alabama Storm Spotter Training

| January 11, 2012 @ 8:18 pm

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has announced their Spring schedule of storm spotter training classes. You can find the information by clicking on the graphic below. Trained storm spotters are an essential element to building an effective warning system. Ground truth information from storm spotters is critical to meteorologists in making the best decisions during the issuance of severe weather warnings. Radar is a fantastic tool, but storm reports from trained observers just can’t be beat in helping the warning process. So take an active role in your community by participating in one of the classes shown on the Birmingham NWS site.

At last check, the NWS offices in Huntsville and Mobile had not posted their SKYWARN spotter class schedules.
