Brighter, But Cold

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player on the right sidebar of the blog. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

SUNSHINE RETURNS: It will be nice to the sun back in full force today, but we won’t warm up very much despite the brighter sky. The high today will be somewhere between 40 and 45, and communities up in the Tennessee Valley might not get out of the 30s. We should also mention the NWS in Huntsville is warning motorists up their way to watch for black ice early this morning, especially where there was a dusting of snow late yesterday. We don’t have any issues down this way.

Tonight will be cold again; by daybreak tomorrow we project a low in the 20-25 degree range, with potential for teens across the colder valleys with a clear sky and light wind.

WEEKEND WARM-UP: The sky will stay sunny tomorrow and Sunday, and we begin to warm up with highs back in the mid 50s. A light freeze is likely early Sunday with a low between 28 and 32.

NEXT WEEK: Clouds increase Monday, and a few showers could reach West Alabama Monday afternoon. The better chance of rain holds off until Monday night and Tuesday thanks to a passing cold front. This is the type system that should bring around 1/2 inch of rain. Maybe some thunder involved, but no severe weather. Somewhat colder and drier air returns Wednesday. And, the 06Z GFS brings in the next impulse with a chance of light rain by Friday (1/20). See the Weather Xtreme video for long range ideas and a look at NAO projections.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
