It appears that today’s tornado outbreak, while not of the scale and size of the “Super Tuesday” tornado outbreak of week before last, was still very significant, especially for Alabama. The worst damage being reported at this time (these reports are preliminary)seems to be near Prattville, where a Wal-Mart shopping center was hit and numerous injuries occurred; near Lowndesboro where injuries were reported; and near Summerfield (north of Selma).

Closer to BHM, damage has been reported at Exit 205 on I-65 near Clanton, around Durbin Farms and Burger King. A tornado was also reported near Millerville in Clay county, and near Rockford in Coosa county.

There have been a total of 29 tornado reports received by the NWS today in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Some of these are probably multiple reports of the same tornado. So far, I have heard of no reports of fatalities, and let’s hope it stays that way.
