A cold front quickly moved through Central Alabama today like a hot knife through butter.

Brisk northwesterly winds are pulling in dry and cooler air behind the front.

A few stratocumulus clouds are filling in behind the front in the I-59 corridor. Temperatures are near 60F.

A few high clouds were across northern Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas. Those could spread across the area overnight and Sunday, but sunshine will rule the day tomorrow.

Overnight lows will drop to the upper 20s on average tonight. Tomorrow will see highs in the middle and upper 50s.

Next storm system is due in here Thursday. Showers and storms are expected with it, but severe weather doesn’t look like a problem. There is not much confidence in timing, and the system shows signs that it might hang around into the weekend. If that happens, heavy rain could be a problem.

An upper low could produce some wintry weather problems as well, but only near its track. The overnight run of the GFS hinted that could be over Alabama, but the morning run took it further north. Sorry snow fans. One model run does not make a forecast of course, one way or the other. We will be watching.
