Heads Up Marion/Lamar/Fayette

| February 29, 2012 @ 4:17 pm

The NWS in Jackson has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Monroe and Chickasaw Counties in northeastern Mississippi for a short line of intense storms approaching Amory and Aberdeen. They appear to have the potential for damaging winds.

These storms will reach Lamar County before 4:45.

Folks in Lamar, Marion and Fayette Counties should be ready to act immediately when warnings are issued. Give yourself plenty of time to leave mobile homes for more substantial structures as thunderstorm winds can completely destroy even anchored mobile homes.

A tornado watch is in effect for Lamar, Marion and Fayette Counties as well.
