Updated ETA For Storms

| February 29, 2012 @ 5:35 pm

As James sometimes says, these storms are “moving at a pretty good clip.”

They are about 40 miles northwest of Birmingham now. And moving southeast at 40 mph. So they will start arriving in the Birmingham area by as early as 6:30.

They are moving into more stable air and should continue to weaken slightly, but for now they are packing quite a punch.

The NWS is going significant weather alert instead of severe thunderstorm warning for Walker and northern Jefferson Counties until 615 PM CST. That confirms that and is good news.

Still, be alert as these storms approach. They could knock down large limbs and even fell trees as well as blow large objects around.

There are more warnings still in Central Mississippi and we will have to watch those, but the cap should do its job and weaken the storms as they push southeast of Birmingham.
