Early Evening in Alabama–7:40 Report

| March 21, 2012 @ 7:41 pm

Heavy showers and strong thunderstorms have been ever-so-slowly working their way eastward today. At 7:40, it was raining over almost every square mile of Mississippi and some of it was heavy. In the last six hours, 1.40 inches of rain for Jackson and 1.16 inches for Hattiesburg.

Those showers are just now struggling to cross the Alabama border. No biggies for Alabama so far but that could change as the evening goes on. We may see as much as one to two inches of rain in the next 12 to 24 hours.

In Mississippi, thunderstorms were marching due north. At this hour, four Flash Flood Warnings are in effect in Mississippi and one Tornado Warning over the extreme south.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for Extreme Southeast Louisiana, Southeast Mississippi and the coastal waters until late tonight (1 am, CDT)

We will watch everything
