Another Cool Night Ahead

Be sure and scroll down for J.B.’s list of morning lows across Alabama. Won’t be as cold tonight, but there is no doubt some of the colder valleys across Northeast Alabama will drop into the 30s again with one more risk of frost.
TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: The weather looks great… dry with a warming trend. With a sunny sky tomorrow we reach the mid 70s, followed by a high around 80 over the weekend. Humidity levels will slowly rise Saturday and Sunday, but an upper ridge should keep most of Alabama shower-free with a partly to mostly sunny sky.
TO THE WEST: SPC has parts of Oklahoma and Kansas under a moderate risk for Day 3, which is Saturday… this could be a significant tornado outbreak for the Southern Plains with a few violent, long track tornadoes possible.
NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS is faster with the upper trough lifting out of the Southwest U.S., but we will keep just a small risk of shower in place Monday, and mention a much better chance of showers and storms on Tuesday. Once again, the severe weather risk for Alabama at the moment seems minimal with marginal instability, shear, and dynamic metrics. But, this is mid-April and we will keep an eye on the system as it gets closer. The latter half of the week (Wednesday-Friday) looks dry and pleasant with highs in the 70s.

I really enjoyed seeing the senior adults at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove today… the church building was within one block of the EF-4 tornado that passed through on April 27 of last year. Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow…
