Drier air is finally filtering into Alabama from the west as a low pressure system over eastern Tennessee pulls eastward.

Dewpoints were in the middle 50s over Northwest Alabama with northerly winds.

A line of showers and storms was along a cold front from northern Tuscaloosa County across northern Jefferson into Blount, Marshall and De Kalb Counties.

This activity was entering the Birmingham Metro.

Pea sized hail was just reported from Highland Lake in Blount County. They had damage earlier today.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were in effect for Marshall and southern DeKalb Counties until 4:15. Strong storms near Geraldine and Crossville.

The storm in northeastern DeKalb County that prompted a warning has moved into Georgia.

The I-20 outbreak continues. Fortunately for Alabama, the most unstable air is now in Georgia. But there is enough of it over East Alabama over Randolph County to prompt a severe thunderstorm warning for a storm north of Wedowee that is moving into Heard County in Georgia.

A tornado watch does remain in effect for East Alabama until 7 a.m. CDT, but it will start being carved away shortly and counties cleared.

Numerous tornado warnings in Georgia and South Carolina where moderate and high risk severe weather outlooks are in place for an unfolding tornado outbreak. There have been fatalities in Georgia from tornadoes today.

The tornado watch in Georgia is a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) watch.
