Showers over West Alabama/Mississippi

| March 30, 2008 @ 9:57 pm | Reply

Showers continue tonight over western Alabama from Colbert and Lauderdale Counties through Lawrence, Franklin, Marion, Lamar and northern Pickens County.

Back in Mississippi, showers and an embedded thunderstorm are over North Central sections of the Magnolia State. The storm is just west of Starkville.

The activity should weaken as it pushes into Alabama later tonight, but rain and a rumble of thunder will not be out of the question overnight mainly north and west of Birmingham.

The two main forecasting models are quite different in their portrayal of tomorrow’s weather. The GFS keeps showers and storms in the forecast through much of the day and tops the mercury out at 67. The NAM keeps things dry and is a little warmer at 70 for the afternoon high. Skies should remain cloudy through most of the day with a little sunshine peeking out by mid-afternoon.

Showers and storms will be likely on Tuesday as a cold front approaches.
