A Few Severe Storms Later Today?

| April 3, 2008 @ 11:58 am | 28 Replies

A quick peek at the 12Z NAM shows these parameters for 6:00 p.m. (at Birmingham) today:

Surface based CAPE 1906 j/kg
0 to 3 km helicity 249 m2/s2
STP (Significant Tornado Parameter) 2.17

Those numbers sure get your attention… and there will be low level boundaries around thanks to the MCS passing north of here, and the wedge front to the east.

I will have more on the afternoon discussion a little later. Stay tuned…
