Loud Storms at This Hour

| August 14, 2012 @ 3:19 am

Heavy thunderstorms have intensified in the past few minutes in the Birmingham Metro area, but they aren’t severe.

A large cluster is over Shelby County, moving into Tallaadega and Coosa Counties. Others are over northeastern Jefferson County.

To the northwest, storms are over southern Winston and northern Walker Counties extending into Cullman and Blount Countties. They will be approaching Oneonta shortly.

Moderate rain continues over Northeast ALabama, mainly over Cherokee County, from the storms that moved across from Northwest Alabama about 10:30 p.m.

No watches or warnings at this hour, but be ready for lots of heavy lightning and heavy rain. There could be some strong gusty winds as well.

Everything is moving east.
