Heavy Rain in Tuscaloosa

| September 1, 2012 @ 1:58 pm

Heavy rain with lightning and thunder just moved through Tuscaloosa.

Here is a picture Donnie Lanier sent to James via Twitter of the Tuscaloosa storm.

The clouds are so dark because they are heavily laden with moisture which blocks sunlight from above.

A significant weather alert was just issued for southeastern Tuscaloosa and northwestern Bibb County as the Tuscaloosa storm moves east northeast.

Here is the radar. Other storms are over northern Jefferson County. Beginning to hear thunder here in Trussville.

Most of the Birmingham Metro will see storms with brief heavy rain in the next 90 minutes.

It is all part of a loosely organized band of showers and storms that extends southwestward back into Indiana and northeastward into Ohio.
