Serious Flood Situation Continues in Selma/Dallas County
LATE REPORT
2 WSW Selma [Dallas Co, AL] COCORAHS reports HEAVY RAIN of M9.64 INCH at 11:45 AM CDT.
Rain is tapering off in Selma, but flooding will continue.
We also have a report that highway 21 is about to washout in the Briggs community.
This is a life and death flooding situation.

The NWS has issued a Flood Warning for Dallas County, including Selma, until 3 p.m.
Flood warnings alert you to continuing flooding.
Much of Alabama from Tuscaloosa to Selma to Greenville to Elba has received over 4 inches of rain since Sunday.
But Selma has been especially hard hit, with 10-11 inches indicated on Doppler radar.
There has been tremendous flooding in the City of Selma. Streets are closed and water is in buildings.
Please do not drive or wade into standing of flowing water. Your life may depend on that decision.
* AT 1155 AM CDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDICATED HEAVY RAINFALL
WAS CONTINUING TO MOVE SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE AREA…BUT WAS BEGINNING
TO DIMINISH FROM THE NORTHWEST. HOWEVER RUNOFF FROM PREVIOUS
RAINFALL THIS MORNING WILL CONTINUE THE NEXT FEW HOURS…AND THIS
WILL PROLONG FLOODING THAT IS OCCURRING ACROSS THE AREA.
* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…CENTRAL
MILLS…DALLAS LAKE…FIVE POINTS…MARION JUNCTION…OLD CAHABA
PARK AND ORRVILLE.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS…COUNTRY ROADS…AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE
BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY.
