A Gorgeous Day

| September 23, 2012 @ 12:24 pm

A gorgeous late September Sunday is in progress across Central Alabama in the wake of a cold front

Temperatures are working through the middle 70s, with very comfortable dewpoints in the crisp 40s over North Alabama and comfortable 50s over Central Alabama.

Throw in lots of blue skies complemented by a refreshing northerly wind, and you have the makings of a perfect weather day. Some high clouds will overspread the area later this afternoon. They are associated with a disturbance that is swinging southeast out of Arkansas. The showers traveling along with it will continue to diminish, and any that make it will stay southwest of us here in Central Alabama.

Lows tonight should be in the 40s at nearly all locations. A few colder spots might even register a reading in the upper 30s.

If we get in the 40s at BHM, it will be the first time since April 24th.

Tomorrow will look a lot like today with highs in the upper 70s again. A gradual warm up will begin Tuesday and take afternoon readings into the middle 80s by Wednesday and beyond. Lows will warm back through the 50s and be back in the lower 60s by Thursday and Friday mornings.

A cold front will approach the area late in the weekend, perhaps triggering a few showers and storms as early as late Saturday night, but more likely on Sunday.
