CALM AFTERNOON: A few high cirrus clouds are floating over North Alabama this afternoon, but low levels are dry and the radar is quiet. Temperatures are generally in the upper 70s and low 80s, well below MOS temperature guidance from models.

REST OF THE WEEK: Not much change tomorrow through Friday, with partly to mostly sunny warm days and fair nights. MOS forecast temperatures remain too warm; highs will be generally in the mid 80s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Still a low confidence forecast with huge model differences. The 12Z GFS shows just a few scattered showers around on Saturday, followed by drier and cooler air Sunday and Monday, very similar to yesterday’s 12Z run. But, last night’s 00Z GFS, and the latest ECMWF (12Z), continue the idea of a wave of low pressure bringing potential for a widespread rain event to the Deep South early next week on Monday.

We will side with the Euro solution for now, and keep a chance of showers going on Sunday, with a better chance on Monday. Then, drier and cooler air moves in Tuesday. But, remember this could change. See the Weather Xtreme video for all of the graphics and details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Yeah, I know this is Tuesday, but college football is king in Alabama. Auburn is taking the weekend off, but Alabama will host Ole Miss Saturday evening at 8:15 p.m… the sky will be mostly cloudy at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and there is only a small risk of a shower during the game (10-15 percent risk). Temperatures will be generally in the 70s.

AT THE BEACH: Look for mostly sunny days and fair nights through Friday from Panama City west to Gulf Shores with highs in the 80s. The chance of scattered showers and storms will return over the weekend, and there is potential for a significant rain event Monday if the ECMWF solution is correct with a surface low tracking along the Gulf Coast.
