DRY DAYS: This kind of weather sure makes it easy on those of us in the forecasting business. A deep upper low is near Milwaukee this morning, and is dominating the flow over the eastern half of the U.S. Cool, dry air is over Alabama this morning, and we note Fort Payne has dropped to 37 degrees at 5:00. Most places are in the 40s.

Our weather will be picture perfect today through Sunday, with sunny comfortable days and clear chilly nights. Highs around 70 today and tomorrow, followed by mid 70s Sunday. Early morning lows generally in the 40s, with potential for 30s for the colder valleys.

NEXT WEEK: No real change. Nights will be a tad warmer with lows mostly in the 50s, but we stay dry through at least Wednesday. The 00Z GFS hints at a cold front bringing the next chance of rain at the end of next week late Friday or Friday night; see the Weather Xtreme video for the details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Look for a clear sky tonight for the high school football games, with temperatures falling from the mid 60s at kickoff into the cool 50s by the second half of the games.

Tomorrow, Auburn travels to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (11:21 a.m. kickoff).. the sky will be totally cloudless with temperatures rising from the low 60s at kickoff into the mid to upper 60s by the fourth quarter. Alabama is also in the Volunteer State… they take on the Tennessee Vols (6:00 p.m. kickoff); the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from 60 at kickoff into the upper 40s by the final whistle.

UAB will host East Carolina at 6:00 tomorrow evening at Legion Field… the sky will be clear; the kickoff temperature close to 68, falling into the 50s by the second half.

AT THE BEACH: Sunny days, clear nights through early next week along the Gulf Coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores. Highs on the coast will be in the 77 to 80 degree range; lows in the 50s and low 60s.

TROPICS: All is quiet and tropical storm formation is not expected through the weekend.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
