Sunday Afternoon Weather Update

| October 28, 2012 @ 4:12 pm

Sandy:
Sandy continues to churn along parallel to the Carolinas this afternoon with rain stretching all the way from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to extreme eastern Pennsylvania. Wind along the coastline from Cape Cod to Wilmington was sustained in most places at 15 to 25 mph with gusts ranging from 25 to 40 mph. Sandy was moving northeast at 15 mph but was still expected to make a turn toward the northwest before noon on Monday as she takes aim at Delaware and New Jersey coasts.

Central Alabama:
It’s been a breezy day and fairly cool with many spots sticking in the 50s. A few locations reached the lower 60s with the nice sunshine. A strip of eastern Alabama from Fort Payne to Dothan and about one county deep remained covered by clouds at late afternoon, but even those spots should see the sky clear by sunset or shortly after.

Note to storm spotters: If you don’t think the wind makes noise, just go outside today or tomorrow and listen to that wind. I’ve been working in my driveway much of the afternoon, and the wind has certainly made itself known with sound!!
