Showers Heading Out

The front that has been advertised for the last several days was making its way through Alabama this morning and should move through easily by early afternoon. Along and just ahead of the front were a few showers extending from about Birmingham southwestward to Jackson. These will move out during the morning hours and by early afternoon should be south of Montgomery. While we probably won’t see a dramatic clearing, we could see some breaks in the clouds this afternoon but it will be a good deal cooler than we’ve seen recently with highs only in the upper 60s.

Monday should be a good day, however, clouds are likely to be on the increase by late afternoon as a strong upper short wave moves over the area. It appears that this system will bring along its own moisture, so look for a good chance of showers from about 10 pm Monday through about noon on Tuesday. Again, though, the sky should be clearing by afternoon. The upper flow comes around to the northwest, so look for some cool mornings through Thursday with Thursday likely to be the chilliest.

Thanks to an upper ridge building over us from the west, we should see temperatures rise nicely into the lower 70s for Friday and the weekend with no rain anticipated.

SPC has a small area of slight risk today along the Carolina coast, otherwise no severe weather expected. And the tropics have gone quiet with hardly any clouds to see across the Atlantic basin.

Looking into the middle of November, it appears that the pattern remains pretty active for us with rain chances coming around the 13th and
again around the 16th. But there does not appear to be any sign of extremely cold weather for the southern tier of the US.

I’m very excited to be emceeing the presentation of the new Helena Belles this afternoon. The Helena Belles is a service organization, derived from the traditional Southern Belles of the South, that helps young women get involved in the local community. The Belles have become great emissaries for the City of Helena. This is such a wonderful opportunity and I’m so pleased to have been asked to be their emcee for the presentation. I even get to wear my tux! James Spann will be back with the next edition of the Weather Xtreme Video first thing Monday morning. Have a great Sunday and Godspeed.
