Alabama Update 9:40 pm

NWS in both Huntsville and Birmingham are canceling the Tornado Watch that was in effect until midnight for 12 NW Alabama counties.

Canceled because the severe thunderstorms that were over the NW corner of Alabama moved NE into Tennessee.

Meanwhile, it will be several hours before the next intense line of storms gets into Alabama.

At 9:40 pm, the line of intense storms extended from the west edge of Kentucky southwestward through West Tennessee and NW Mississippi into North Louisiana. Lightning in this line of storms has actually increased over the last half hour or so.

SPC indicates that a watch may be issued again but not right away. It may be several hours before Alabama would be threatened.

However, NWS/Birmingham doubts if there will be another watch tonight.
