Good Morning!
Cold across the area this morning. Temperatures are generally in the 30s, with a few locations over North Alabama in the 20s.  Some lows from hourly readings overnight include…
…27 at Muscle Shoals
…29 at Decatur and Huntsville
…28 at Gadsden
…31 at Montgomery
…32 at Tuscaloosa
…35 at Calera
…36 at the Birmingham Airport
Temperatures remained up just a bit across parts of North Central Alabama thanks to a stronger than expected easterly wind overnight and some patchy high cloudiness. Some locations picked up frost, but the freeze was not as widespread as expected.
Regional radar composites are clear over Alabama and adjacent states. The nearest rain to Alabama is a line of showers over northwestern Arkansas. No lightning is currently associated with this activity.
On the surface maps, triple barrelled high pressure dominates the eastern half of the nation, with centers over Ohio, West Virginia and North Carolina.Â
A vigorous upper level disturbance over northern Missouri is spreading snow over Wisconsin and Michigan with a line of showers stretching back across Missouri and Arkansas. Much of the activity over the Great Lakes states is probably not reaching the ground.
Sunshine should be abundant across North and Central Alabama today with highs rising into the lower 60s. Tonight will not be as cold as last night, with lows in the middle to upper 30s. Tomorrow looks to be a nice day with a good deal of sunshine continuing and a high in the middle 60s.Â
Overnight model runs show a nice day Monday, with a chance of showers returning on Tuesday and a better chance on Friday and another round of storms on Saturday. A challenging forecast, to say the least.Â
