A Cold Raw Day

| March 22, 2013 @ 9:57 am

The calendar says late March, but the weather says late January. It is a cold raw day across portions of the Southeast as temperatures are in the lower 40s in most locations. Rain is falling and some sleet may be mixing in some areas. Most areas will see a very cold, light to moderate rain at some point today. The heavier rain is currently over West Central Alabama along and south of the Highway 82 corridor from Gordo and Reform down to Montgomery and also around Demopolis and Marion. This activity will continue to slide off to the east southeast through out the day.

Tomorrow will be a completely different weather day as we go from a wintry mess to a threat for severe weather. Oh the joys of forecasting the weather in Alabama. A low pressure will be intensifying to our west. It will begin to draw a warm front north tonight and into tomorrow. We go from very cold today, to very warm tomorrow. Depending how far the warm front makes it north, will determine how far the severe weather threat makes it inland. The SPC has much of Alabama under a slight risk for severe weather for Saturday and we will be watching everything carefully the rest of the day to see how much of a threat develops for our part of Alabama.
