Last Night
Many reports of scattered wind damage and hail last night. Lots of trees down. Cherokee County, in NE Alabama, had some of the worst weather.
But this post is about rain amounts. It was not a widespread drought fighter like recent events, so this list will be short:
0.90 Black Creek (fell very quickly)
0.10 Bear Creek (NE Marion County)
0.28 Sycamore
1.50 Argo
1.12 Remlap
0.54 Coldwater
0.72 Clay (off Deerfoot) (5.06 for May so far)
0.67 Oxford
0.08 Weaver
0.14 Vinemont
0.34 Morris
0.61 Clay/Pinson (Womack Road) (Dime size hail also)
0.98 NE Trussville/Peppertree (fell in just a few minutes)
0.40 NE Trussville/Old Mill Run (Molly’s house)
0.26 Fort Payne Airport
0.17 Pinson
A BEAUTIFUL DRIVE
I sure do enjoy that drive from Clay to Pinson via Bud Hollow Road. Great scenery, awesome in autumn. I never tire of driving all the way across Deerfoot Parkway. Great view of lush ridges, and on that drive, you cross the very upper watershed of the Cahaba River.
BRIAN PETERS
Be sure and scroll down to see his post. It is Brian’s supreme effort to deny long-running accusations that he has been stealing WI-FI. I think he succeeded. I believe him!
WHAT IS A WEATHER GEEK?
Later this morning, I will post a story with that title. It will include a photograph of a “real” weather geek from 2,000 miles away that I had the pleasure of meeting for a 90-minute breakfast at a Trussville restaurant several weeks ago. He furnishes us with a lot of great weather information from far away. After getting material for the story, not so sure that we want to be called “weather geeks!”
