Sun And Storms

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

Our old surface boundary over far South Alabama will drift northward tonight, and most of the state will be back in a moist airmass tomorrow. We will continue to mention a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms tomorrow and Friday, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Otherwise, expect a mix of sun and clouds with a high in the mid 80s both days.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND: Our thinking for the weekend hasn’t changed much; scattered showers and storms will remain possible Saturday, but the weather for Sunday and Monday should be dry and warm. Highs will remain in the 80s. Some hint of a wedge Sunday, which might keep highs in the low 80s.

GULF COAST WEATHER: About 4 to 7 hours of sunshine on a daily basis through Saturday with the daily chance of one or two passing showers or thunderstorms. The weather looks mostly dry by Sunday and Monday with 8 to 10 hours of sunshine each day. Afternoon highs will remain close to 80 on the immediate coast; look for mid to upper 80s inland. The sea water temperature this hour at the Dauphin Island Seb Lab is 79 degrees.

VOODOO LAND: The GFS continues the idea of some kind of tropical system forming in the Northwest Caribbean as we begin the month of June; the 12Z run moves it up into the Atlantic, but other runs have pushed it into the Gulf of Mexico. Still voodoo, but consistent voodoo, at least in the idea of the tropics being rather nervous as the season begins.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow….
