Showers Winding Down

| June 1, 2013 @ 9:27 pm

It was a fairly active day across the state as many areas saw some rainfall. We did have one severe thunderstorm warning for Talladega and Clay Counties with a few reports of some tree damage earlier, but since then everything has calmed down. Other areas just reported gusty winds, heavy rains and frequent lightning. Most of the activity is winding down as the loss of daytime heating along with the boundary layer really getting worked over this afternoon and evening. We should remain quiet the rest of the evening but we are watching some activity so our west.

Areas in southern Arkansas and northern Louisiana are seeing some strong and severe storms this evening. This activity is expected to continue to push east through out the night. It should be weakening as it does, and with very little instability over Alabama, we are not expecting anything significant during the overnight hours. There could be some additional rainfall from this cluster of storms during the morning hours. Expect redevelopment of activity tomorrow as a cold front will be working through the state tomorrow with widespread showers and thunderstorms. Not expecting severe weather, but there could be some strong storm later in the day.
