Drought Conditions

| June 2, 2013 @ 11:14 am

Depending where you are in the U.S., there is quite a bit of range in the drought severity. The eastern half of the U.S. is doing much better than the western areas. The worst of the drought remains over the western Plains and into New Mexico. With the excessive drought conditions, many areas are highly combustible and many areas in New Mexico are battling wildfires. Not much relief in sight either, well not until the monsoon season starts later this summer.

For Alabama, over the last few months, the excess in rain had brought nearly all of Alabama out of the drought that has been ongoing the past few years, especially over our southeastern counties. Currently, conditions show most of Alabama with no dry or drought conditions. Abnormally dry conditions are confined to the Wiregrass region of the state. Luckily only 3% of the state is experiencing drought conditions and this conditions are in Covington, Geneva, Conecuh and Escambia Counties. As of now, it will not take much to bring these areas out drought conditions.
