Strong Storms in our Southern Counties

| June 2, 2013 @ 3:03 pm

This afternoon we are seeing some strong storms develop along the Interstate 85 and Interstate 65 corridors near Montgomery. None of these storms are currently severe, but they could be producing small hail, gusty winds, torrential rains and frequent lightning. These storm have developed along an outflow boundary that this morning’s storms sent out. Tuskegee, Troy, Auburn and Phenix City could all be impacted by these storms over the next few hours, along with U.S. Highway 231.

Additional thunderstorm activity is possible across Central Alabama as a cold front is approaching the state from the Northwest. It could provide enough uplift to allow for showers and storms to develop in this very warm and muggy air mass.
