Severe Weather Risk for Alabama

| June 17, 2013 @ 11:47 am

As expected, the latest day one convective outlook now has portions of Alabama outlined in the standard slight risk for severe weather. This risk does not include Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Anniston or Gadsden, but is currently confined to our western and southwestern counties. Areas south of Highway 82 and west of Highway 5 are included in this risk. Some cities included are: Aliceville, Greensboro, Demopolis, Eutaw, Livingston, Grove Hill and Linden. Main severe weather threat will be hail and damaging winds. Also, be on watchful of torrential tropical rains and frequent lightning.

There are also numerous showers and thunderstorms that have developed across Alabama this morning. Though the storms have been strong, none of them are currently severe. They are producing heavy rains and frequent lightning.
