Former NHC Director Bill Read Visits Today

Today is a very busy day for the Central Alabama NWA Chapter, as there are two chapter meetings planned. The first is in Montgomery at 1PM and the second is in Birmingham at 7PM. Both meetings will have guest keynote speaker, former Director of the National Hurricane Center, Bill Read.

Director Read will have a very busy visit. He will be hosting a Student Luncheon, visiting the NWS Birmingham, the State of Alabama EMA Office, as well as speaking at both chapter meetings.

Before Director Read speaks at the meetings, there will be some quick chapter business. Once finished with chapter business, Director Read will speak for approximately 45 minutes to an hour. We encourage anyone to attend at least one of the meetings, if not both. Please show up and make Director Read feel welcome.

Here are the details for the Montgomery meeting.

Time: 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Parking: Free, with plenty of surface parking available
Admission: Free to NWA Central Alabama Chapter Members, Guests $15.

Here are the details for the Birmingham meeting.

Birmingham Meeting
Location: Medical Forum Building, BJCC
3rd Floor, Forum Rooms G/H/I
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 pm. (Doors open 6:30 p.m.)
Parking: Free street parking,
or valet parking at the Sheraton or Westin for $20
or in the parking deck for $8
Admission: Free to NWA Central Alabama Chapter Members, Guests $15.

Director Read will be available for interviews and questions at both meetings.
