Afternoon Convection Developing

| August 3, 2013 @ 1:33 pm

Convection has popped-up over portions of western Alabama and eastern Mississippi early this afternoon.

Ample moisture levels will provide fuel for showers and thunderstorms development this afternoon and we are now beginning to get convective initiation. This activity is impacting ares of Marion, Franklin, Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Greene, Sumter and Hale Counties.

These storms are moving to the east-southeast and are producing heavy rain and lightning. Storms are not expected to reach severe limits, but we can expect additional showers and storms to develop throughout the afternoon.
