All Storms South Half of Alabama

Two parts of Alabama sporting some strong thunderstorms late this afternoon.

A line of storms (not a solid line) extended from Sumter, North Marengo and South Hale County on the west side of the state, eastward across Perry County and all the way to near Montgomery and Phenix City.

Line of storms moving steadily SE. Considerable lightning and some folks are getting downpours.

Way down in SW Alabama, a separate bunch of storms.

NWS/Mobile has issued two Severe Thunderstorm Warnings:

* For SW Mobile County until 5:15. Line of storms extended fromn 18 miles west of Downtown Mobile to 15 NW of Dauphin Island.

* For Central Escambia County in NW Florida and East Central Baldwin County in Alabama. Based on a severe storm 20 miles NW of Pensacola moving SE at 7.

Both may produce winds over 60 and large hail.

And, as always, very dangerous lightning.

No showers over the north half of Alabama at 5 pm. Dry air already spreading over that area.
