Tropical Depression Forms in the Far Eastern Atlantic

The National Hurricane Center just initiated advisories on Tropical Depression Five.

It is expected to become a tropical storm early tomorrow and a strong tropical storm over the next 48 hours before it encounters less favorable conditions.

We have a long time to watch this one. Here is the forecast track. In five days, it will still be nearly 1,000 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands.

Convection has died down this evening on the system in the western Caribbean but it still has a high probability of become a tropical depression late tonight or early tomorrow.
