An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

Gotta love it… here are some 5:00 a.m. temperatures around our state:

Fort Payne 52
Cullman Airport 55
Meridianville 55
Crossville 55
Tuscaloosa 59
Decatur 59
Birmingham 61

Vic Bell, our Skywatcher in the small community of Scrougeout, in Northeast Etowah County, is reporting a crisp 50 degrees at 5:00. I am sure J.B. will run down a long list of lows a little later this morning. We need to celebrate temperatures like this in June in Alabama….

TODAY/TOMORROW: The dry, continental air remains parked over Alabama through tomorrow, and tomorrow morning should be a few degrees cooler. The MOS products are running now in the mid 50s; looks like most spots will be somewhere between 50 and 60 tomorrow morning. You have to wonder if some of the colder spots will visit the upper 40s. Highs will be in the mid 80s today, and upper 80s tomorrow.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: We will mention a chance of scattered showers and storms Friday and Saturday as an impulse approaches from the northwest. The models have been flip-flopping a bit on the day which should offer the best coverage of showers; the 00Z GFS now shows the best action on Saturday, but even then the activity will be scattered. Then, drier air begins to move back into the state Sunday as a broad surface low moves away, and most of the day should be dry with only a small risk of a lingering shower.

For now, it looks like mostly dry weather on Monday and Tuesday of next week with seasonal temperatures.

THE LAND OF VOODOO: The GFS continues to advertise fairly routine weather as we end June and get into July; warm and muggy conditions with a chance of scattered, mainly afternoon showers and storms on an almost daily basis with the Bermuda ridge in place. Again, no sign of any excessively hot weather, and the tropics remain quiet.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

I am headed down to Tuscaloosa today to speak to a group at the Bryant Conference Center at midday; I will have the next Weather Xtreme video here by 3:30 or so this afternoon. Enjoy the day!
