Above Average Temps Again

| October 13, 2013 @ 1:41 pm

The unseasonably warm weather continues again today. Once again, the entire state is rain free and with mostly sunny skies, everyone has made it well into the 80s across the state. Several locations are reporting mid 80s and that is a solid ten degrees above normal. For the middle of October, we more typically see our highs in the mid 70s and by the end of the week it would appear that is where we will be heading.

Cooler air is not that far away from central Alabama. A cold front has made it into extreme northwestern Alabama where it has stalled out. Behind this boundary, afternoon highs are in the lower to mid 70s. That air mass will stay where it is as the front has loss its forward momentum. The warm and dry weather will hang around a couple of more days, before a stronger cold front heads our direction and that front will make it through the state, bringing with it a much cooler air mass.
