FREEZE WARNING: Temperatures are only in the mid 50s this afternoon across the northern half of Alabama, which is 15-18 degrees below average for October 25.

We still project a low between 27 and 35 degrees for most places early tomorrow with a clear sky and light wind, and the NWS offices in Huntsville and Birmingham continue a freeze warning for all of the counties in their CWA (County Warning Area).

OUR WEEKEND: The high tomorrow will be in the low to mid 60s, and by Sunday we will be close to 70 degrees. Tomorrow’s sky will remain sunny, and on Sunday there will be in a mix of sun and clouds as low level moisture begins to slowly return. We do note the NAM is trying to spit out a few isolated showers Sunday afternoon in the WAA (warm air advection) pattern, but for now we believe the air will be too dry for significant rain and we won’t mention it in the forecast. Just something to watch over the weekend.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: Clear and cold weather for the high school football games tonight; temperatures will fall into the 40s during the games, and some stadiums could be in the upper 30s by the final whistle. A good, warm jacket will be in order.

For tomorrow’s Magic City Classic (Alabama State vs Alabama A&M) at Birmingham’s Legion Field (2:30p CT kickoff), the sky will be sunny with a temperature near 61 at kickoff, then falling into the 50s during the second half. Alabama hosts Tennessee at Bryant-Denny Stadium tomorrow afternoon (2:30p CT kickoff)… 62 degrees as the game begins with 50s during the second half.

Auburn will host Florida Atlantic tomorrow evening (6:00p CT kickoff) at Jordan-Hare Stadium… the sky will be clear with a kickoff temperature near 58 degrees, falling into the 40s by the final whistle. UAB will play indoors tomorrow; they are in the Alamodome to take on the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners (4:30p CT kickoff). For fans traveling to San Antonio, the day will be mostly cloudy with a chance of widely scattered showers. The high tomorrow afternoon will be in the mid to upper 70s.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Mostly sunny days, fair nights through Monday from Gulf Shores over to Panama City. Highs will be in the 70s, with lows mostly in the 50s, although some spots could see upper 40s on the coast early tomorrow.

NEXT WEEK: No doubt we will have showers and storms toward the end of the week, models are slowly showing better signs of agreement; we will mention a chance of showers and thunderstorms on both Thursday and Friday for now, and we can fine tune the forecast as we get closer to Halloween. The Euro continues to suggest the main rain event holds off until Friday, while the GFS brings the rain in during the day Thursday.

Severe weather parameters are not especially impressive for now, but no doubt there could be a few strong storms involved. We will keep an eye on it; don’t forget the fall tornado season begins next Friday, November 1.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
