Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

Clouds, Cool, Breezy

| January 25, 2014 @ 10:43 am

Depending on your location across the state this morning, you are either seeing full sunshine or mostly cloudy conditions. We are all seeing breezy conditions as we are beginning to see our winds increase from the southwest today. That will allow us to warm well above what we have seen the last few days, but still below seasonal averages.

Most areas across Central Alabama will warm to about the 50 degree mark this afternoon. Of course the farther south you are, the higher those temps will climb. Across the northern third of the state, the highs this afternoon should at least make it into the lower 40s.

During the morning hours we have seen a stratus cloud field move in from the north and has made it is as far south as the Interstate 20 corridor. These clouds will last for a few hours and could affect how much we warm today, so we may have to dial our afternoon highs back some, but we should still make it well into the forties as the southwesterly flow should only increase as the day continues. All locations in the state will make it above freezing today, which will finally allow us to thaw out for a little while.
