Temperature Has Dropped to Freezing in Birmingham
Latest hourly observation from the Birmingham Airport now has the temperatures at 32 degrees with rain falling. Similar temps being reported across the metro area now. This will now lead to an enhancement of ice development. Throughout the early morning hours, there were reports of some light icing in the area on trees and elevated surfaces. Now that temps have reached freezing, roads and travel are going to be impacted.
The next couple of hours, the rain will continue to fall and the temp is expected to drop a few more degrees. This is setting the stage for the icing event that is forecast to happen this morning.
