Late Look at Cristobal and Dolly…

Tropical Storm Cristobal has intensified a bit tonight. It is passing east of Cape Hatteras, moving northeast at 9 mph. Top winds are now 50 mph. It could strengthen a little further on Monday, but should stop short of becoming a hurricane. It will keep heading out to sea.

Tropical Storm Dolly is 95 miles southeast of Cozumel, moving northwest at 14 mph. Top winds are 50 mph. Little change in strength is expected tonight. The system will emerge back into the southern Gulf late tomorrow. It will slow its forward motion as steering currents weaken. It will then take at least two days for it to make the trek to its final landfall over Northeast Mexico or South Texas. it should have time to become a hurricane before landfall.

There are no signs that the system will turn more to the north.

There will probably be two additional named storms in the next two weeks over the Atlantic.
